YOUTUBE KIDS ANIMATION DINGLE STUDENT AWARD 2020 WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT CLOSE DOOR EVENT IN JAM MEDIA

Although Animation Dingle 2020 which is presented by JAM Media each year came to a halt last week when it was decided to cancel the Festival in respect of health and safety and in the wake of COVID-19, the Festival wants to assure those students who submitted this year, that selections were made and winners were announced.

The Festival was due to run 20-21 March, so it is no surprise that 99% of the work leading up to the Festival was already completed and ready to kick off.  Amongst this was the adjudication process and the selection of winners in a variety of categories. Although Animation Dingle is refunding ticket costs to all students, true to the spirit of community that Animation Dingle so prides itself on, a special production and broadcasting of the announcement of the winners was made on Friday 20th March – a date that had been set aside for the YouTube Kids Animation Dingle Awards night in the Dingle Skellig Hotel.  All students who submitted work were encouraged to watch the streaming of the awards announcements in order to celebrate virtually if not in close proximity.

The YouTube Kids Animation Dingle Student Awards was presented by Alan Shannon and Mark Cumberton of JAM Media. Thank you to all of the colleges who would have made the trip to Dingle and for entering their films for the awards. Films were representative from  IADT Dun Laoghaire, Ballyfermot, Coláiste Dhúlaigh, IT Tralee, Limerick School of Art and Design, Letterkenny IT, University of Ulster, University of Dundee, LIT Clonmel and Athlone IT.
